About the role

Carrier has openings for passionate and experienced Modeling Engineers to serve as vital members of the MASC (Modeling, Analysis, Simulation and Computation) team based in Shanghai, China. The MASC team is responsible for developing and deploying state-of-the-art modeling tools and model-based development workflow that are used by Carrier global engineering centers for Carrier’s air-conditioning and refrigeration component and system design.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Sr Modeling Engineer, you’ll be responsible for:

• Develop state of art calculation engine to promote Carrier sales volume. 
• Communicate with marketing, product engineering, and global teams in understanding customer needs from different perspectives.
• Provide heat transfer and thermodynamics expertise and work with optimization engineer to develop advanced algorithms to assist the Carrier sales person to provide best solutions to our customers.

Requirements

As a minimum you must have:

Education:

• MS degree or above in applied mathematics with 5+ year experience.
• MS degree or above in thermal, refrigeration and air-conditioning or fluid machinery with 5+ year experience.

Experience / Qualifications:

• Have strong mathematical skills in matrix analysis and optimization.
• Be expert in numerical solvers for large scale systems, optimization problems and nonlinear equations. Especially, Newton-based solver with line search for nonlinear equations and optimization
• Be familiar with thermodynamics and heat transfer. It is better to have knowledge on refrigerant cycles and fluid mechanics.
• Be skilled in at least one of following programming language, Fortran, Python and C/C++.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate across functions.
• Be passion on physics, mathematics and engineering.
• Be willing to dive into HVAC systems.
• Be curious about finding problems and be patient in solving problems.
