Key Responsibilities:

As a Sr. Optimization Software Engineer, you’ll be responsible for:

• Engineering Software Architecture & Platform Development: Design and develop scalable backend architectures supporting engineering analytics, optimization, and decision-making applications; Lead software architecture design, system refactoring, and continuous platform modernization efforts; Establish reusable software frameworks, APIs, and component libraries for computational engineering applications; Improve software maintainability, scalability, reliability, and performance through modern engineering practices.
• HVAC Computational Solutions: Translate HVAC engineering requirements into actionable software and computational solutions; Collaborate with optimization, modeling, and product engineering teams to build engineering decision-support tools; Develop software infrastructure supporting product family design, platforming, simulation automation, and engineering workflows; Integrate engineering models, simulation tools, and optimization engines into production-ready platforms.
• Optimization & Workflow Automation: Build computational workflows enabling automated engineering analysis and optimization. Develop data pipelines and orchestration frameworks for large-scale engineering studies. Support deployment of optimization methodologies into practical business applications. Enable efficient execution of engineering calculations, trade-off studies, and design exploration.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering domain experts to capture requirements and convert them into scalable technical solutions; Drive projects from concept through deployment, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery; Collaborate globally with software, computational engineering, modeling, and product development teams; Contribute to technical roadmap planning and software best practices across the organization.

Requirements

As a minimum you must have:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related technical field.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in:

o   Backend Architecture

o   Software Design Patterns

o   System Refactoring & Modernization

o   Distributed System Design

o   API and Service Development

• Strong programming skills in Python, C#, Java, C++ or equivalent modern programming languages.
• Proven ability to convert complex business or engineering requirements into deployable software solutions.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex production issues including memory leaks, resource contention, concurrency bottlenecks, and performance degradation.
• Strong experience with infrastructure and DevOps

o   Git version control;

o   Jenkins or equivalent CI/CD platforms;

o   Linux administration and shell scripting;

o   Docker containerization;

o   Cloud platforms (Azure preferred);

o   WSL development environments

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Although not necessary, it would be nice if you have:

• Experience with engineering software development, simulation platforms, or scientific computing.
• Understanding of optimization methods and engineering decision-support systems.
• Familiarity with HVAC, thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, or energy systems.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures and microservices.
• Knowledge of database design, performance optimization, and data engineering.
• Exposure to mathematical optimization frameworks such as Pyomo, Gurobi, CPLEX and IPOPT
• In-depth knowledge and experience with mathematical theory, algorithmic foundations and methods/tools for numerical optimization of large-scale systems.
• Exposure to AI/ML-enabled engineering workflows is a plus.
• Familiarity with using HPC and cloud-based platforms for computation at scale.
• Self-starter who is well-organized in an international team environment, and has excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
